September fun family activities!

  • Potting up seedlings – get the kids to pot up the seedlings and create little sticks to help identify them!
  • Create a fun themed flower bed – Spring is all about colours, – create a picture in a garden bed and watch their faces light up as it comes together.
  • Create a worm farm -Worm farms are a great way to teach children about composts and organic waste. Worms help break down kitchen scraps, turning them into nutrient-rich fertiliser. Create a garden journal to write it out.
  • Growing veggie comp – Get your children to look at fast growing plants, then help them observe, measure and journal whats happening. Make it fun by making it a competition on whose grows the fastest!
  • Create a fairy or dinosaur garden: Help the kids imagine a mini life in the garden with mini fairy houses and/ dinosaur gardens. Use succulents, small ferns, and rocks to create the landscape. Tip: Reuse an old wheelbarrow or large container as the garden base for easier mobility.
  • Lawn aeration: Get the kids to make the aeration holes in your lawn.
  • Lawn Fertilising: Strap on the safety gear (mask included) and get the older kids to sprinkle the lawn with a spreader or by hand. Then get them to hose it in straight after.
