Savour the Season- Beetroots

You can’t beet this!
Harvesting fresh homegrown beetroot is so satisfying- watch the kids eyes bulge at what they grow! You can pick baby beets when they’re around golf ball size for tender, sweet bites. Leave some to mature to tennis ball size for that classic, earthy flavour – perfect for roasting, pickling, or salads.

Beetroot stores well – you can keep freshly picked roots in the crisper of the fridge for up to two months. And don’t forget the leaves – they’re great in salads or sautéed. Harvest a few outer leaves at a time, maintaining at least five leaves on the plant to continue growing.

Keep the soil well-watered and mulched to encourage healthy growth for your remaining crop. Happy harvesting!
